Since 1999 fans have been tuning into NBC’s long-running drama, Law and Order SVU. With the show in its 24th season, Fin Tutuola star Ice-T spoke out about the series’ potential end.

After landing on screens, Law and Order SVU became a huge hit as it garnered thousands of loyal fans across the world.

Special Victims Unit became the first spin-off of the Law and Order franchise and outlived the original drama after it came to an end in 2010, before being resurrected in February.

Viewers became fond of the series as it tackled cases involving sexual assault against children, the elderly, and those who are disabled.

The unit also solved crimes with murder, abduction, robbery and child pornography cases.

After making her first appearance in the pilot episode of season one Olivia Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay) has gone on to lead the team as captain.

She has become a beloved member of the cast and was recently hailed the longest-running prime-time live-action character of all time.

With fans still dedicated to the series, SVU’s second-in-command star Ice-T shared his thoughts about the future of the show.

He stated: “Every year I just hope for the next season, can we get a nice 25, a nice quarter, I think so.

“I think we’ve still got momentum, I think people are still digging it.”

Reflecting on his journey, Ice-T told Entertainment Tonight: “I came on the show for four episodes, so this was a ride I never expected.”

After making his first appearance in season two, Ice-T has become the second longest-serving character on the show, directly behind Mariska.

As a result, in season 19 his character was rewarded for his loyalty, with a promotion to Sergeant.

Although he was only down for four episodes, back in 2000, the actor clearly exceeded expectations as he remains on the show 20 years later.

While this has proven to be a major success for the star, Ice -T did open up about his character’s future on the show.

The rapper-turned-actor revealed he would rather leave the show with a memorable death than a quiet departure.

He said: “If I got to go, I want to go in a blaze of glory. Blow me up in a car. I want to be murdered.”

Ice-T then highlighted if his character was still alive, he would hope to find himself at one of the other shows Dick Wolf’s created.

“[I’m] in the Wolf Universe. You understand? Law & Order could end and I could be climbing a ladder on Chicago Fire.

“I could be over on Organized Crime, so maybe I don’t want to die,” he told Mashed.

Law and Order SVU season 24 continues Thursdays on NBC in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
