I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Charlene White finally put to bed the reason why she has decided against sleeping in the same RV as Matt Hancock. The Loose Women presenter has recently come under-fire for not freeing up her bed to take the chance to sleep in luxury. The ITV journalist explained to Sue Cleaver she is concerned her integrity as a reporter will be compromised.

Charlene used a moment of calm with the Coronation Street actress to talk about the topic which has proved controversial among campmates.

She explained: “I’m an impartial journalist, I can’t be sharing a room with a sitting MP because that just doesn’t sit well with me impartiality wise.

“And I just think, if he were ever to become minister again how can I sit and question him about anything when I’ve shared a room with him?”

An intrigued Sue replied: “It’s very, very tricky.”

Charlene continued: “I would say that every conversation we’ve had that Matt’s been here constantly involves me doing calculations in my head about impartiality and making sure it doesn’t go too much in one direction.

“Constantly thinking about those guidelines and the broadcasting rules. It’s a constant thing that’s in my head on a daily basis.”

With the situation proving to be a thorny topic in the jungle, Charlene unloaded on the matter.

The journalist remarked: “He gets it. He understands it. He understands my job. It’s just a bizarre situation, but that’s how I live my life on a daily basis.

“On Loose [Women] I have to do it. That’s why I can only ever be host, I can’t be ‘panel’. If you are on the panel you are giving your personal opinion on stories.

“I am helping conduct and facilitating that debate while posing questions of the panel whilst providing impartiality.”

Charlene added: “If they are going too far in one direction I can pull them back because I have the facts and figures in my head because of my day job.

“Then all you get is a load of tweets from viewers saying, ‘I knew she was a Boris lover. I knew it!'”

Charlene’s choice of bed has led to viewers and fans speculating as to why she preferred not being with the suspended MP.

Former I’m A Celebrity star Vernon Kay chimed into the ongoing reality TV debate during a radio appearance.

He vented to Chris Moyles’ Radio X stand in Toby Tarrant on Friday morning, sympathising with the campmates.

Vernon remarked: “My experience with the hammock is they’re awful.

“I was given a hammock and I ended up taking it off the stands, putting it on the floor and sleeping on everyone’s coats, and that was comfier than the hammock. I think that situation is really out of order.”

He continued: “I think that’s one of the first questions that Ant and Dec will ask her when she leaves, like ‘why did you not sleep in the RV?’ Is it because you wanted to sleep with the campmates? Or is it because you didn’t want to sleep next to Matt Hancock?’”

“I think Charlene has played a booboo there by refusing to go into the RV.

“It’s really distressing watching it because it’s like ‘It’s really simple Charlene, just make your campmates happy by going in a comfortable bed.'”
