Gladiators reboot makes major change as bosses ditch famous teeny costumes

Gladiators have made a major change to the show's aesthetic as bosses have ditched tiny costumes for women.

The usual skimpy outfits are reportedly set to be switched to more professional attire such as ones worn by GB athletes.

It comes as the show gears up for the big reboot set to debut on BBC One in the coming weeks.

A source told The Sun: “These flimsy costumes were deemed acceptable when the show started but they’re probably a bit too revealing today.

“The new ones won’t be too stuffy as they’ll highlight the female stars’ incredible physiques.”

Former Gladiator Vogue (Suzanne Cox) starred in the ITV series between 1992 to 2000. She said she had to apply bum glue to keep her costume in place.

She recalled: “I remember Cobra (Michael Wilson) joking to us: ‘When I die I want to come back as a bum stick’.”

Gladiators used to be on Sky and ITV. The show is set to return on BBC1 this year.

Bradley Walsh, 62, and his son Barney, 25, have been named as the hosts for the reboot.

Bradley said: "Wow! I can’t believe that I’ve been asked to be part of this iconic show.

"I used to sit backstage, or in the audience, every week watching my wife be part of this juggernaut and now I get to co-host a new version of Gladiators! Saturday night family entertainment at its best…"

The latest Gladiators to be named are Sabre (Sheli McCoy), Apollo (Alex Gray) and Dynamite (Emily Steel).

Dynamite said: "I'm too young to remember the original Gladiators, but my parents loved it and suggested I try out."

The trio join; Nitro, Diamond, Giant, Fire, Legend, Fury and Steel.
