Emmerdale issues warning before episode airs as baffled fans mock announcement
Emmerdale fans were issued an announcement before Friday's episode (March 17) aired, warning them of "upsetting and distressing scenes".
But viewers weren't fazed by the announcement and instead headed to social media to mock the warning.
"Fake scenes of distress klaxon #Emmerdale," wrote one fan.
Another shared: "Scenes of distress – is that because the first scene is Wendy? #Emmerdale".
Referring back to Leyla's kidnapping storyline, another viewer added: "Scenes of distress – some viewers will experience trying to work out why a shed in the middle of nowhere has electricity…"
Echoing this, someone else tweeted: "Scenes of distress? That was last night when they all survived! #Emmerdale".
"Scenes of distress FFS it's Emmerdale," commented a fifth.
During the episode, Cathy put her plan into action to ditch Wendy and prevent her from chaperoning them to a gig that evening.
