EastEnders' Dayle Hudson lifts lid on 'utter panic' for Peter as ex-girlfriend Lauren and son left homeless

EASTENDERS star Dayle Hudson has lifted the lid on exactly how Peter felt when he received a call from ex-girlfriend Lauren Branning.

The actor – who plays Peter Beale in the popular BBC soap – explained that the market trader felt "utter panic" in upcoming scenes due to air next week.

Lauren currently lives in New Zealand with their son Louie and picks up the phone next week in despair because she nowhere to live after her house got burnt down in a fire.

Two years ago, the single mother left Walford and headed to the island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, where Peter was living at the time.

But then in February this year, he returned to the Square to be with his family, leaving the two behind.

Speaking out about how the unexpected phone call affected Peter, Dayle explained: "His first reaction is utter panic to be honest, for the safety of his immediate family,"

"When Lauren asks him for help he sees it as a way to quickly make amends and try to build some sort of bridge.

"But his initial reaction is to panic for the safety of his son more than anything else."

And although many EastEnders fans might think that this means Lauren will return to the show, it really does look like things are over between the former lovers.

He added: "They talk but there's no love there.

"She's happy for Peter to talk to Louie as much as he wants to. But because of Peter’s busy family schedule at the moment it’s limited to once a week."

Dayle also admitted that the market trader would really love to reunite with his son at some point, and has gone to get advice from his dad Ian.

But their relationship looks like it's going just as well as his with Lauren.

He explained: "I think there's a lot of resentment. It's one thing after another with Ian.

"Re-mortgaging the caff was just another thing that was ridiculous, so the family kicked Ian out.

"Ian’s not covered in glory with the family at all. Even Bobby doesn't like him.

"Peter’s always had to explain to his nan and his little brother why his dad is the way he is and for the first time in a while they've seen it first-hand," he added.

"It gives Peter a nice bit of satisfaction. Right now, Peter’s got one over Ian."

The question on everyone's lips at the moment is will Jacqueline Jossa ever return to EastEnders as Lauren Branning.

Last month Jac sent fans into a frenzy when she hinted that she wants to return to the show during an appearance on Keith Lemon’s Celebrity Juice.

When quizzed about her plans for a return, Jacqueline said: "When the time's right yes.

"The character needs to be missed before you can come back."
