The 20-year-old actor died after suffering a seizure in his sleep related to “an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”
Disney Channel staple Cameron Boyce passed away on Saturday after suffering a seizure related to "an ongoing medical condition," according to a family spokesperson.
Tributes to the young actor poured in over the weekend, from passionate fans, celebrities who knew and worked with Cameron — as well as those who never got the chance — directors who saw his talent on set and even Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger, who said Boyce was "was a friend to so many of us, and filled with so much talent, heart and life, and far too young to die."
The 20-year-old actor came into prominence for the kid-centric network as a star on its "Jessie" series from 2011 to 2015 and more recently rose to prominence again as Cruella de Vil’s son in the channel’s popular "Descendants" movie series.
"It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron," the family spokesperson told ABC News in a statement. "He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated."
"The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him," the statement continued. "We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother."
The actor was a constant presence on the Disney Channel appearing in myriad shows beyond the two projects for which he is most know. Fans also remember seeing his freckled face in "Austin & Ally," "BUNK’D," and "Liv and Maddie."
"Descendants" director Kenny Ortega wrote in an Instagram post that Boyce brought "love, laughter and compassion" with him to the set, describing him as both kind and generous.
"It has been an indescribable honor and pleasure to know and work with him," Ortega wrote. "I will see you again in all things loving and beautiful my friend. I will search the stars for your light. Rest In Peace Cam. You will always be My Forever Boy!"
Adam Sandler wrote a stirring tribute to Boyce on Sunday morning, describing him as "just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around." The actor wrote that Boyce "Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world."
Other Disney co-stars and fans took to social media to share their own tributes to the young actor who impacted so many lives through his work:

I don’t even know where to start… I am at a loss for words. I never thought in a million years I would be writing this. Cam, you were one of a kind. My heart will be forever broken. I am so happy that I got to spend almost everyday with you on set, you gave the best hugs. I wish I would have hugged you tighter when I saw you a couple of months ago. Thank you so much for being the big brother I never had… I am so distraught and I cannot stop crying! I love you so much… fly high 👼🏼 💔😢 Gods best Angel . #CameronBoyce
