Death in Bollywood sparks 'justice for Jian Khan' campaign as BBC viewers convinced troubled actress was murdered

DEATH in Bollywood has sparked a 'justice for Jian Khan' campaign after BBC viewers were left convinced the troubled actress was murdered.

The Bollywood actress was tragically found hanged from a ceiling fan in her bedroom at her family's residence in Juhu, Mumbai, in June 2013.

A six-page suicide letter was also found by police at Jiah’s apartment, which documented her troubled relationship with co-star and partner Sooraj Pancholi, who appeared in the BBC Two documentary.

But India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced this month it was seeking further investigation into the screen star's case – with her British mother Rabia claiming that her daughter was murdered.

The BBC Two show is documenting her family's quest for justice – and after watching it, viewers are also convinced she was killed and didn't take her own life.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Hmm… Someone is definitely bending the truth. Someone can't accept the truth maybe. Either way, a life was lost, a career ruined & a quest for "justice" continues

Another tweeted: "Not fully buying Sooraj’s story. Justice for Jiah Khan #DeathInBollywood."

Meanwhile a third added: "DeathInBollywood is a heartbreaking watch – I can't say I'm surprised that the Mumbai police botched up the investigation around Jiah Khan's death.

"I really hope the family gets the justice they deserve, especially her mother who's been fighting for years."

The hashtag JusticeforJiahKhan also started trending on Twitter after the latest episode aired.

Mr Pancholi’s lawyers have sought action against the CBI for contempt of court over their plea for further investigation.

He was initially arrested on June 10, 2013, but was granted bail the following month.

Mr Pancholi continues to deny having anything to do with Jiah's death.

Death in Bollywood continues tonight at 9pm on BBC Two.
