Coronation Street exit for Evelyn Plummer as shes left heartbroken by Roy
Cerberus the dog is put to sleep on ITV Coronation Street
Roy Cropper (played by David Neilson) has been a part of the cobbles since 1995, and fans couldn’t imagine Coronation Street without him.
However, ITV viewers are concerned though as Roy has recently been suffering with his health.
Upcoming scenes will see him worried about an operation he has to undergo, but some unexpected twists could come from the storyline.
As he prepares to go into hospital, an always-prepared Roy gathers some letters he’s written to various Weatherfield residents to be opened if he doesn’t make it.
Roy’s close friend Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) seems to have a love-hate relationship with him but it turns out there are deeper feelings involved.
In scenes yet to air, Roy’s dog Freddie goes in for his own operation and Roy’s niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) reveals to Evelyn that Roy is sleepwalking again due to his concern for his upcoming operation.
After realising he left the cafe door open while sleepwalking, Roys enlists the help of Nina and Evelyn to search for Freddie.
Roy eventually tells Nina about his operation and hands Evelyn a stack of letters to distribute should he die.
As she sifts through the letters, Evelyn discovers one is addressed to herself.

To make matters worse, Yasmeen has a special surprise of her own for Roy.
When Evelyn realises Roy has Yasmeen to help with his recovery, will she decide to push her feelings aside and leave Weatherfield?
Actress Maureen has already confirmed a brief exit for her character as she heads to the stage for a few weeks.
While the soap hasn’t confirmed the details of Evelyn’s exit while Maureen takes a break from the show, it would make sense for the sharp-tongued character to leave the cobbles for a while after seemingly missing her opportunity with Roy.
Her stint in the play Rose means she’ll be taking a four-week break from Corrie, and fans can expect to see Evelyn’s story wrapping up ahead of the summer.
Coronation Street continues on Friday at 8pm on ITV.
