Who's most likely to win Best Breakthrough Act?

Coral have supplied odds for who they've predicted to win in the Best Breakthrough Act category tonight –

  • Jorja Smith – 1/2

Jorja Smith, 20, has had a a good couple of years since her start in the music industry.

In January 2018 she won the Brit Critics' Choice Award, which is an award given by the British Phonographic Industry – and previous winners include Adele, Florence and the Machine, Sam Smith and Rag'n'Bone Man.

Jorja is best known for her song Blue Lights, which she released in 2016.

Her song Where Did I Go? which she also released in 2016, was chosen by Drake as his favourite track of the moment in an article which featured in Entertainment Weekly.

She also appeared on on two tracks on Drake's 2017 album More Life.

She has also released hits including On My Mind, Let Me Down, Get It Together and I Am, which is the soundtrack for the film Black Panther.

  • Idles – 5/2

Idles are a British punk rock band from Bristol.

They formed in 2009 and released their debut album Brutalism in 2017 which received instant critical acclaim.

Their second album Joy as an Act of Resistance – which was released in 2018 – also garnered rave reviews.

The band supported The Maccabees on their farewell tour as well as the Foo Fighters at the O2 Arena's 10th Birthday.

  • Tom Walker – 4/1


Tom Walker has quietly been making waves in the music industry for the past couple of years.

And now the talented star is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

The 27-year-old Glaswegian released his debut single Sun Goes Down in 2016 to critical acclaim.

But it is his 2017 song Leave A Light On that he is perhaps best known for.

He has supported the likes of George Ezra, The Script and Jake Bugg on tour.


  • Ella Mai – 5/1

Ella Mai, 24, released her debut studio album in October 2018 which featured songs Boo'd Up and Trip.

The former single was nominated for Grammy Awards – Song of the Year and Best R&B Song, and she won the latter.

Rolling Stone have described her sound as "a British émigré full of self-confidence and an affinity for classic Nineties R&B."

  • Mabel – 8/1

Mabel McVey is a 23-year-old singer who's the daughter of popstar Neneh Cherry – famed for her hit 7 Seconds among many – and music producer Cameron McVey who has produced for the likes of Massive Attack, All Saints and the Sugababes.

She first came to the attention of the music industry with her debut single Know Me Better.

In 2017 her track Finers Keepers peaked at number 8 on the UK Singles Chart.

The singer has opened for Harry Styles on the European leg of his tour.

February 2019 saw her track Don't Call Me Up peak at number 5, becoming her highest charting single so far.

Who are the Brit Awards 2019 nominees?

The nominations were unveiled on January 12 but the winners will be revealed TONIGHT (February 20, 2019).

Scooping the most nominations this year were Dua Lipa, Anne-Marie and Jess Glynne who all received four nods respectively.

While George Ezra and Jorja Smith were both nominated three times.

Not following far behind where The 1975, Calvin Harris, Clean Bandit, Dan Caplen, Demi Lovato, Florence and the Machine, Little Mix, Macklemore, Rita Ora, Rudimental and Tom Walker – who all had two nominations each.

While the others are also in with a good shot in at least one of their categories.

Who's hosting the show?

For the second year running Jack Whitehall will be hosting the show.

In November 2018, we exclusively revealed that the comedian had signed up for the second time.

In 2018 viewers were left in stitches when he asked Cheryl Tweedy and Liam Payne if they had a sex “safe” word.

And bosses were keen for Jack to return after he was dubbed “the best host in years” by viewers at the awards last February.
