BGT fans work out celeb behind Mr Blobby act which left Simon Cowell covered in slime
Some Britain's Got Talent viewers have theorised that David Walliams may have returned to the show last night, disguised as the iconic TV character Mr Blobby.
Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli, were left stunned last night (May 6) when Mr Blobby appeared on stage, to perform magic tricks.
Mr Blobby was first seen on television back in 1992, when he was introduced on Noel's House Party, as part of the show's 'Gotcha' segment.
For his first appearance he was portrayed by Noel Edmonds, however, a number of other people have taken up the role since, with the character making numerous guest appearances on various shows.
Appearing on BGT, Mr Blobby coaxed Simon onto the stage for the final part of his act, where the TV judge was instructed to sit inside a box.
Although rather hesitant, Simon eventually agreed only to then be covered in pink slime.
And as Simon was left annoyed, viewers at home pondered who could be wearing the Mr Blobby suit, with David Walliams proving a popular guess.
Taking to Twitter, one fan asked: "Is Mr Blobby David Walliams in disguise? #bgt #bgt2023 #BritainsGotTalent."
"Waiting for Mr Blobby to pull of his mask and reveal @davidwalliams #BritainsGotTalent #BGT" added another.
And a third joked: "Theory: Was that David Williams in the Mr Blobby costume? #BGT #MrBlobby #DavidWalliams."
A fourth said: "That’s so @davidwalliams in the Blobby costume. #BGT" to which another Twitter user replied: "100% Darth Vader too."
Unfortunately for those hoping for a shocking reveal, Mr Blobby received four red buzzes and left before revealing their true identity.
This series of BGT has seen a plethora of rather strange acts, from the show's first ever piano playing dog, to a bizarre act that saw the hopeful lift Amanda Holden up by his eyelids.
The latter left some many viewers horrified and rushing to social media to share their thoughts, with one writing: "BGT wtf have i just witnessed?!! That was insane but brilliant gosh… he is certifiably crazy as f**k!"
“That was absolutely horrifying [crying face emoji],” added another, as someone else wrote: “I gag brushing my teeth nearly threw up watching that lmao."
Some backlash was also sparked by the sword-swallowing, which had occurred earlier in the act, with one viewer arguing: “Sword-swallowing acts (which are intrinsically dangerous to begin with) can’t got any further. They can’t get 'more' dangerous in the semi-final or final, and it would be irresponsible to put them in the Royal Variety Performance in front of the King."
