BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty slams Carol Kirkwood for huge blunder live on air

Naga Munchetty was shocked on BBC Breakfast when her long-time colleague Carol Kirkwood got her name wrong live on air.

In Thursday's episode of the show (April 29) Naga had just interviewed Welsh musician Tom Jones about his new album when she handed over to Carol so she could report on the weather forecast.

Naga said: "Sir Tom Jones, it’s been a pleasure talking to you this morning and good luck [with your new album]."

"Thank you very much, love, and all the best," the Sexbomb and It's Not Unusual singer replied, leaving Naga seeming absolutely thrilled by the term of endearment.

Naga then turned to Carol and said: "Morning Carol, Sir Tom Jones called me 'love'!"

It was at that moment Carol dropped the howler, and said: "I know I heard, you lucky devil Nana."

Unimpressed at being called "Nana", Naga fired back: "Oh here you go, just try and get my name right, just once Carol."

Red-faced at the blunder, Carol tried to fix the situation and told her: "We have a producer named Nana that I work with all the time, and Naga, I just get your names confused.

"Anyway, good morning everybody, swiftly moving on from that faux pas."

Naga held her hands over her mouth in shock and the weather report then started as usual.

This comes after Naga mocked her co-host Charlie Stayt when he wanted to warn people "don't try this at home" when they watched a wild golf stunt.

She said: "Trust you, Charlie eh? I don’t think anyone would, let’s hope not anyway.”

Charlie joked: "I just want to bring the mood down."

Also in the show, Charlie made a shameless jibe about Carol's age but she was having none of it and reminded him he was in a similar age bracket to her.
