Today Show anchor Al Roker, 66, and his wife, ABC News senior national-affairs correspondent Deborah Roberts, 60, have a made-for-TV love story: Roker spotted “one of the most stunningly beautiful women I’d ever seen” on an NBC News monitor decades ago and knew they were meant to be. Their story is one of the three featured in PEOPLE’s first-ever Love Issue, on newsstands Friday.
The couple tied the knot 25 years ago, just as Roker predicted: “He said early on, before I was convinced, ‘We’re going to get married,'” Roberts told PEOPLE.

Roker shared a video from their wedding on the couple’s 25th anniversary, Sept. 16, 2020.
The two enjoy quiet nights at home — and they’re grateful for it, now that Roker has a clean bill of health after his recent treatment for prostate cancer. “She’s been a real rock,” he said of his wife throughout their journey.
The couple told PEOPLE they both enjoy romance, but Roker tends to be “on it all the time” when it comes to sweet gestures.
The two also love date nights with each other — seen here at an N.Y.C. gala in 1998.
Rokers and Roberts told PEOPLE they are on the same page when it comes to parenting kids Courtney, 33, (his daughter from his first marriage), Leila, 22, and Nick, 18. “I think we’re good cop, bad cop, depending on the kid and the situation,” Roker said.
The couple have been enjoying making fun cocktails for their quarantine movie nights.
In this week’s issue of PEOPLE, the couple spoke openly about their fears and love for each other throughout Roker’s cancer battle. “You cherish and you clutch and you hold on,” Roberts said.
