According to ICE, Gregorio Ortiz was first arrested by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on December 10, 2012 for illegal entry into the United States. The next day, he was expedited by processing and was sent back to Guatemala on January 10, 2023.
He illegally re-entered the U.S. on an unknown date, without inspections from immigration officials.
“Not only does Gregorio despise our nation’s immigration laws for proof of illegal returns after being removed from office, he also completely ignores our criminal law,” said William Joyce, acting director of the New York City Acting Field Office. “Ice City of New York will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and evacuating illegal foreign criminals in our community.”
