Trump’s incoming border czar welcomes meeting with Mayor Eric Adams: ‘New York City is about to get safer’

Incoming border czar Tom Homan met with New York Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday to discuss the city’s ongoing immigration crisis and strategies for deporting illegal immigrants with the help of the New York Police Department.

Homan served as acting director of ICE during President Donald Trump’s first term and has been tapped by the newly elected president to serve as the incoming administration’s border czar.

“Things are going great,” Homan told Sean Hannity Thursday night. “Look, the mayor and I sat down and talked for over an hour. He gets it. Today he proved that as the mayor of New York, he cares more about public safety than politics. I hope Chicago and San Francisco Mayor Diego City Council The mayor and Governor Pritzker, I hope they both follow the lead of Mayor Eric Adams.

Homan recalled how Adams emerged as an “ex-cop” during a closed-door meeting in New York on Thursday.

“He truly cares about public safety, and he puts politics aside. He wants to help ICE take criminal threats off the streets. He wants to help ICE find national security threats. He wants to help ICE find more than 340,000 missing children, many of whom are It’s Missing Children.” So it’s going to be a great conference in the city. “

“Hats off to the mayor for coming to the table and working with us,” Homan praised.

Homan revealed that since his meeting with the New York mayor, he has been approached by other leaders from both parties.

“I’ve been contacted by several other mayors, even Governor Pritzker… who was willing to sit down. So I think what Mayor Adams did today is not only good for New York City, but I think it’s going to have a domino effect. I hope some mayors will step up after seeing the success we had today,” Homan said.

Homan further praised Adams for wanting to “understand” how ICE does its work and for being willing to use executive orders to address some of the “obstacles” New York City faces.

“he [Adams] Homan told me he would consider executive orders to undo some of the damage de Blasio has done. Rather than releasing them into the community and putting the community and my officers at risk – the risk to someone in the community, not the risk in prison. He wants law enforcement officers in their jurisdictions to release criminal aliens to us, not on the streets.

Nearly 60,000 ‘criminal’ immigrants in New York City housing estates: report

Homan spoke with Adams about the NYPD’s assistance in finding and apprehending illegal immigrants across the city.

Homan said Adams “has a lot of uniforms in the city and they know what’s going on in their community.” “The New York Police Department has one of the best intelligence agencies in the world that is here to help us. So we’re going to rely on every uniformed officer in this city to give us information about where criminals are.”

Recent reports show that New York City currently has hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, including nearly 60,000 “criminal” immigrants, and concerns about safety and resources are growing.

According to Homan, Laken Riley’s name also came up during the meeting when discussing illegal immigrants roaming New York’s streets.

“The murderer of Laken Riley was arrested in New York City for endangering a child. If circumstances had been different, ICE would have detained him instead of releasing him and allowing him to travel to Georgia to commit this horrific crime,” Homan said. “So he did. [Adams] A lot of good questions were asked and I felt really good at the end of the session and we will continue our conversation.

After meeting with Adams, the incoming border czar expressed confidence that New York City is “on the verge of becoming safer.”
