Trump says he is ending Biden’s confidential intelligence briefing in return for investment

Palm Beach, Fla. (AP) – President Donald Trump said Friday that he is revoking former President Joe Biden’s chance to get the government secret and ends his 2021 versus Biden ( Biden) received daily intelligence briefings.

Trump announced his decision in an article on his social media platform shortly after arriving at the Mar-a-Lago Home and Private Club in Palm Beach over the weekend.

“Joe Biden does not need to continue receiving classified information. So we immediately revoke Joe Biden’s security permit and stop his daily intelligence briefings,” Trump wrote. “He put forward this precedent in 2021, when he directed the intelligence community (IC) to block the 45th U.S. President (ME!) from accessing details about national security, a courtesy to the former president.”

The move is the latest in Trump’s promised vengeance journey in Washington during his campaign. He had previously revoked security permits from more than 40 former intelligence officials, who signed a 2020 letter saying that the Hunter Biden Taptop Saga had the logo of “Russian Information Operation.” He also revoked security details designated to protect former administration officials who criticized him, including his own former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who faces threats from Iran, and former infectious disease expert Anthony Ford, a former infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Biden did not immediately comment on the move.

Biden ended Trump’s intelligence briefing after Trump helped overturn the 2020 presidential election and incited the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. At the time, Biden said Trump’s “unstable” behavior should prevent him from getting Intel’s briefing.

Biden was asked about his concerns when he was worried about whether he would continue to receive the briefing, saying he didn’t want to “speak out loud” but made it clear that he didn’t want Trump to continue visiting Such information.

“I just don’t think he needs to have an intelligence profile,” Biden said. “What value gives him an intelligence profile? What impact does he have other than what he might slip and say?”

In 2022, federal agents searched Trump’s Florida home and seized a box of confidential records. He was charged with dozens of felony charges, accusing him of illegally hoarding confidential records and obstructing the FBI’s efforts to get them back. He pleaded not guilty and denied illegal acts. The judge dismissed the charges, ruling that their special lawyer was illegally appointed, and the Justice Department waived the appeal after Trump was elected in November.

In a related matter, Trump rejected Colleen Shogan as U.S. archivist, White House aide Sergio Gor, released Friday night.

Trump said in early January that he would replace the head of the National Archives and Records Administration. Government agencies sparked anger after notifying the Justice Department about Trump’s handling of confidential documents. Shogan was the first woman in the post, and was not an archivist in the U.S. when the issue arose.

Trump listed his special adviser report on handling confidential documents in Biden’s post, saying: “The HUR report shows that Biden suffered ‘bad memories’, even in his “Prime,” Can’t trust it either. Sensitive information.”

He concluded the post, saying, “I will always protect our national security – Joe, you were fired. Make America great again!”

Special counsel Robert Hur investigated Biden’s handling of confidential information and found that criminal charges were not guaranteed, but conducted a critical critical assessment of his handling of sensitive government records. The report calls Biden’s memories “hazy”, “fuzzy”, “false”, “poor” and “significant limitations”. It said Biden doesn’t remember defining milestones in his life, such as when his son Beau died or when he served as vice president.

Trump has the right to terminate Biden’s briefing because it is the president’s decision on whether past presidents should continue to access confidential information.

Presidential Communications Director Steven Cheung shared Trump’s post on X social media platform and said: “Hit Jack, you’re not back!”
