U.S. President Donald Trump criticized his former national security adviser on Sunday and said the U.S. government should have less time to worry about Russian President Vladimir Putin due to the ongoing war in Moscow against Ukraine.

Trump commented on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday night as Lieutenant General McMaster, the Human Resources Department of Trump’s national security adviser during his first administration, criticizing the president “coddling putin” while putting increased pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“HR McMaster is a weak and totally ineffective loser!” Trump wrote.

“We should spend less time worrying about Putin and more time worrying about being raped gangs, drug aristocrats, murderers and people from spiritual institutions entering our country – so that we won’t end up like Europe!” he said in his follow-up post.

McMaster criticized Trump and Vice President JD Vance after meeting Zelenskyy in the Oval Office. During the negotiations, Trump and Vance severely criticized the Ukrainian president during tense exchanges between the leaders of the two countries and sent Zelenskyy before the U.S. president shortened the meeting.

“It is impossible to understand why President Trump and Vice President Vance seem determined to put more pressure on President Zelensky, and they seem to be cheering Putin, the person who caused this terrible war in Ukraine,” McMaster said on X on Friday.
