Trump provides support behind federal government takeover DC

President Donald Trump said Wednesday he supports Republican-led Congressional efforts to put Washington, DC under direct federal control.

Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he complained about crime and homeless people in the national capital.

“I think we should take over Washington, D.C. – to make it safe,” Trump said. [the] District of Columbia. ”

According to the New York City’s Interior Administration, Congress reviewed all DC laws and could overturn them, but some Congressional Republicans hope to put the area directly under federal control, as if it were founded.

Trump said he personally likes Mayor Muriel Bowser but complains about the city’s governance.

“They didn’t do the job,” Trump said. “There are too many crimes – too many tents on the lawn – these grand lawns.”

He argued that he could not see the homeless sight when he was receiving foreign leaders in Washington.

“You just can’t let that happen,” Trump said. “You can’t have all the beautiful tents – once magnificent squares and lawns.”
