Trans pedophiles fall into police sting
A trans pedophile was tangled by police for four years while trying to meet a young boy.
Bex McCullgh from North Somerset defender was arrested on arrival at the scene in Bristol and the officers were waiting.
At Bristol Crown Court, the 25-year-old (formerly known as Beckham) pleaded guilty to many crimes, including attempts to incite children to engage in sexual activities.
McCullgh was sentenced to eight years in prison, with four of them being detained before being extended.
Although the court records use “HE” to refer to pedophiles, police have since called McCullgh “her.”
An investigation by the Southwest Regional Organized Crime Unit (SWROCU) led to the arrest in October last year.
McCullgh, who must serve two-thirds of four years before being eligible for release, was also appointed as the subject of preventive injury orders and added to sex offenders indefinitely.
Det Insp David Wells from SWROCU said: “The verdict passed to McCullgh reflects the threat she posed to the child and, along with the indefinite order, will help prevent her from committing it again when she is finally released.
“Our online investigative team is part of the National Network, and they are committed to identifying and arresting criminals who want to sexually abuse or develop children online.
“The results like this show how important the importance of work is, but again, how important it is for young people and their caregivers to be alert to risks.”
