Meghan Markle and Prince Harry called villains by neighbors in posh California town

Neighbors reportedly called Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “local villains” after they fled to a posh California town after ditching their royal roles.

One Montecito resident who had never met the couple called the couple princes and “starlets” in an interview with Vanity Fair.

Neighbors in the quiet Santa Barbara area blame Markle and Prince Harry for many of their new worries, including rising home prices, busy streets and more.

Anonymous residents told the outlet that tourist traffic to the area has increased significantly since Markle and Harry arrived in 2020. Vanity Fair also reports that several people it spoke to noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have become local villains.

According to Vanity Fair, Markle’s latest business venture, American Riviera Orchards, is also located in Montecito. “Montecito was called the American Riviera,” according to an 1898 book published by the Southern Pacific Company Railroad. However, that honor now reportedly belongs to Santa Barbara.

“It’s a sales pitch,” one resident told Vanity Fair. “She’s just trying to monetize something.

“I still think they are the most entitled and dishonest people on the planet,” the resident added. “They left the UK to escape media scrutiny and what they did was try to gain access to the US media.”

Meanwhile, the couple’s arrival was praised by their celebrity neighbor Sharon Stone.

Despite moving to the United States five years ago after stepping down from senior roles in royal life, Prince Harry reportedly has no social life outside of his nuclear family.
