Travel warning: Urgent update to Britons in Asia following India-Pakistan escalation

The UK Government has issued a travel warning for British nationals in India and Pakistan following military activity between the nations.
The warning comes after yesterday’s incidents when India launched an attack on Pakistan, with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) now monitoring the situation closely.
Britons have been urged to stay updated with official travel advice and follow local authority instructions.
The escalation has prompted concerns for UK citizens currently in both countries.

“On the night of May 6, the Indian Ministry of Defence stated it had struck nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir”, the FCDO confirmed.
In response, Pakistani artillery fire has been reported across the Line of Control.
The FCDO noted: “We are aware of potential disruption to flights to/from India and are monitoring closely.”
In light of this, British nationals in the region should contact their airlines for up-to-date flight information.
The FCDO also warned of planned Civil Defence mock drills across several Indian states on May 7.
“The drill may include temporary power cuts or blackouts, loud air raid sirens, suspension of mobile signals, or traffic diversions,” visitors were advised.
Authorities may conduct evacuation exercises or make public announcements during these drills.
The FCDO advised: “British nationals should stay up to date with our travel advice and follow the advice of local authorities.”
