Thousands in Columbus are without power as temperatures plummet to zero

Thousands of AEP Ohio customers northwest of Columbus are reportedly without power due to near-freezing temperatures.

The company’s online outage map shows 16,142 customers without power in an area near Ohio State University Airport along Bethel Road and U.S. 33.

The outage occurred Tuesday night when temperatures were already near freezing. Overnight lows are expected to be a few degrees below freezing.

The company posted on social media that it was sending multiple crews to the area to investigate the outage.
