Thief wearing belt steals from Southern California outlet mall, officials say

Two people were arrested on suspicion of stealing from a Camarillo store and hiding the stolen goods in their waistbands, authorities said.
Jose Mujica and Anyela Corredor-Casallas were arrested earlier this month, according to detectives with the Ventura County Organized Retail Theft Task Force. The arrests came after detectives with the Ventura County Organized Retail Theft Task Force said they found two people carrying about $4,500 worth of stolen goods at an Under Armor store at the Camarillo Premium Outlets. Authorities said the couple wore the belts as part of their strategy and stuffed them with merchandise, including 17 pairs of jeans.
They were arrested and released on $100,000 bail each. They were charged with conspiracy to commit organized retail theft, theft and larceny.
Ventura’s Anti-Retail Theft Task Force is funded by the California Retail Theft Prevention Grant Program and is designed to combat the approximately $10 million in losses caused by organized retail theft in the county each year.
