Sarah Michelle Gellar recently shocked the world by announcing her willingness to return to the world of movies. buffy. The actor has traditionally said she doesn’t want to return, but recent projects like Bloodthirsty Forensic: Original Sin Make her believe there are some clever ways to bring back beloved characters and their world. This still leaves a question how brings the series back, but this question was actually answered decades ago via a failed pilot: Simply put, buffy the vampire slayer Needs to come back as an animated series.
First attempt at Buffy animation
Back in 2004, a year after the reality show ended, Joss Whedon released a four-minute demo Buffy: The Animated Series Designed to help him sell cartoons to any interested network (you can watch it in the video above if you’re interested). In fact, he’s been working on the project since 2001, and he’s hoping cool animation and returning cast members like Anthony Stewart Head, who was originally cast in the role I planned it as a prequel when I was still in high school.
The series was never sold, and Whedon said the project was discontinued in 2005, but with Gellar willing to return, it was time to pitch an idea buffy the vampire slayer The animated show is resurrected. Notably, she did not voice the character again in the 2004 presentation, nor did she reprize her role as Buffy Summers in the excellent Audible original Slayer: A Buffyverse Story. Now that she’s willing to come back, it’s important for future producers to determine the best way to make that happen.
Why animation works better

if buffy the vampire slayer Returning as a live-action series rather than an animated series, the biggest concern for any network would be the high production costs. On top of all those beautiful sets and special effects, they also have to pay for the return of traditional actors, some of whom may not appreciate returning to a tight production schedule. Poor acting, reality show buffy Restarting is like Frasier The revival, notably, brought back the main characters, but the original cast was relegated to very occasional cameos (thankfully, Perry Gilpin’s strong performance in season two changed that).
Fortunately, making buffy the vampire slayer Creating an animated series solves both of these problems by reducing production costs while also making production more accessible to talent. One of the reasons why Audible attracts so many veterans Buffy The stars are Slayer: A Buffyverse Story Most actors find that simply recording their lines is better than spending hours worrying about hair and makeup before shooting a scene in the early hours of the morning. one buffy Cartoons are just as easy to record lines for, and the format’s versatility leaves a lot of room for some creative writers.
Joss Whedon originally tried to create a buffy the vampire slayer Animated prequel show, if creators and fans want to use this cartoon to flesh out Scooby’s early adventures, the idea is still viable. However, it would be just as easy to set the cartoon in the present day and explore how the world changes when Buffy gives her powers to every potential killer in the world. if they want to go X-Men ’97 line and turning great comic arcs into shows, Dark Horse’s Buffy the Slayer comics would be a great place to start as new “seasons” of the original show are created.

speaking of X-Men ’97the show proved buffy the vampire slayer Animated shows could be successful while still exploring some very dark themes. Quality always wins if we get high quality buffy Cartoons (with or without the controversial Whedon involvement), fans come running over. Sarah Michelle Gellar is ready to return to the role that made her famous, and a cartoon adaptation might finally be our best shot at bringing back some of the old magic from one of the most groundbreaking series in television history choose.
