The Boy Scouts in the United States officially changed their name to be more “inclusive”

Nine months after the announcement of the name change, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) officially changed its name Saturday to “Meet the evolving needs of young people.”
The organization adopted a new name on its 115th anniversary, which “marks a critical moment in the organization’s journey,” according to a statement released on Saturday.
The shift follows a recent policy change in 2018, allowing girls to join the program. The group began allowing gay youth in 2013 and ended a blanket ban on gay adult leaders in 2015.

President and CEO Roger Krone told the Associated Press there was “some objection” but said there was a small surge in membership after the rebrand was announced in May.
“We are doing it under a more independent gender name, and a lot of people want to learn more about that fact,” Kron told the Associated Press.
The Associated Press reported that more than 15,000 scouts joined the total number of members exceeding one million.

As the most important youth program in the United States, Scout America says it provides children with opportunities to focus on role development, leadership, entertainment and outdoor exploration.
The statement said the adaptation would “ensure future generations have the opportunity to benefit from this transformative program.”

While the name changes, the Texas organization says its mission remains the same for a century: instilling the values of the Scouts and the legal values in young people, preparing young people to make moral and moral choices throughout their lives .

The organization’s website features its new name, but social media accounts still have traditional handles.
“Scouting the United States has helped instill eternal values of generations of Americans,” Kron wrote in the statement. “In an increasingly complex and interconnected world, the values and skills in which reconnaissance are more important than ever, and It is still crucial to require a strong personality, moral decision-making and effective leadership.”
Kron added that it is reaffirming its commitment to providing a “safe and supportive environment” where young people can develop basic qualities.

“Reconnaissance America has been committed to providing a safe environment for youth where they can learn meaningful life skills, create lifelong memories and develop into leaders of tomorrow,” the organization wrote in a statement. “In fact, Since its inception in 1910, more than 130 million Americans have been searching for American plans.”

It also followed a court order to pay a $2.46 billion settlement involving about 82,000 former Boy Scouts who claimed they were BSA officials and volunteers are taking sexual abuse.
Filed for bankruptcy enables the organization to continue operations.
