Trump says he ‘believes’ H-1B visas for skilled workers are right choice on immigration: report

President-elect Trump appears to agree with Elon Musk and supports H-1B visas for U.S. skilled workers, which is the right idea in the current immigration debate.

“I’ve always loved these visas, I’ve always supported these visas. That’s why we have these visas,” Trump told the New York Post on Saturday.

Trump said he approved of the visas on his property, saying, “I’ve always been a believer in H-1B. I’ve used it many times. It’s a great program.”

Trump’s comments come at a time when immigration and the status of foreign workers in the U.S. labor market are in conflict.

Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, Earlier this week, Trump appointed him to lead the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), saying that American culture does not value education enough, so technology companies such as Musk’s SpaceX and Tesla need foreign workers.

Many tech companies have accepted the H-1B visa program, which allows U.S. companies to hire foreign workers in specialized occupations, but critics of the program say H-1B holders are often selected over U.S. citizens.

One such critic, Laura Loomer, sparked controversy on There was an uproar.

She said in a post that she was worried about the impact Krishnan, a U.S. citizen, would have on the Trump administration’s immigration policies.

“It is astounding how many career leftists are now being appointed to serve in the Trump administration, who are in direct opposition to Trump’s America First agenda,” she wrote.

Musk hardened his stance, taking to Twitter on Friday to attack a user who played a video of him discussing SpaceX’s process for going after the billionaire’s stance on the visa program.

“Take a step back and fuck yourself,” Musk complained.

Ramaswamy also supports H-1B visas, writing: “American culture favors mediocrity over excellence.”
