and Tesla Inc. Tesla On Friday, it raised the starting price of its Model S sedan by $5,000, with all high-end models now starting at $79,990.
What happened: Tesla has three high-end electric vehicle products: Model S, Model X and Cybertruck. Model S is a sedan, Model X is an SUV, and Cybertruck is an electric pickup truck.
Currently, the lower-priced model of these three models starts at $79,990. However, the higher-end version of the Cybertruck (called the Cyberbeast) is priced higher than the higher-priced versions of the Model S and Model X.
Prices start at $94,990 for the Plaid sedan and SUV, while the Cybertruck’s premium version, the Cyberbeast, starts at $99,990.
Which one to buy?
Given that all three cars now start at the same price, which one should you buy?
For drivers looking for maximum range, Model S’s 402-mile range is the most reassuring in its class.
The Cybertruck has the shortest range of Tesla’s premium products, but the company plans to offer a range extender for drivers who want to increase the range, expected to cost $16,000. According to Tesla, customers can increase the range to more than 445 miles through a range extender on all-wheel drive models.
However, production of alternative battery packs that can be installed in truck beds is not expected to begin until mid-2025.
Name | scope | starting price |
Model S all-wheel drive | 402 miles | $79,990 USD |
Model S plaid pattern | 348 miles | $94,990 USD |
Model X all-wheel drive | 329 miles | $79,990 USD |
Model X plaid pattern | 314 miles | $94,990 USD |
Cybertruck all-wheel drive | 325 miles (without range extender) | $79,990 USD |
Cybermon | 301 miles (without range extender) | $99,990 USD |
But the best option for customers also depends on what they expect from their vehicle. For customers who are looking for speed, the Model S Plaid Edition will be the best choice as the car has a top speed of 200 mph and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.99 seconds.
The Model X is a good choice for anyone who wants to tow up to 5,000 pounds. However, for those who want to tow more weight (up to 11,000 pounds), the Cybertruck is a better choice.
Furthermore, if you want your vehicle to stand out on the road, the Cybertruck is the best choice with its stainless steel and angular bodywork.
