Teddy Bridgewater returns after winning high school state coaching title, signs with Lions

Teddy Bridgewater hopes to win two titles in two months.

Bridgewater spent the fall coaching at his high school alma mater, leading Miami Northwest High School to the Florida Class 3A state championship earlier this month. But now, we’re competing for another championship.

He returned to the Detroit Lions for the playoffs as a veteran backup.

The Lions have clinched a playoff spot and can claim the NFC’s top seed with two more wins, but want to go with someone with experience just in case Jared Goff goes down. Go; Hendon Hooker has served as Goff’s backup all season.

Bridgewater served as the Lions’ backup last year.

Bridgewater was drafted in the first round by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014 and has started 65 games in his NFL career. Dan Campbell also spent two seasons in New Orleans when he was an assistant coach with the Saints.

Campbell praised his relationship with Bridgewater in interviews with reporters on Thursday.

“I’ve been around Teddy for a while and it was always a potential possibility. We all knew what Teddy did there, gave back to his community, they won a championship there, so his first coaching It was a very good performance,” Campbell said.

“Being able to get an experienced guy back here, he’s in shape, he’s been pitching, and just getting him back here to work a little bit. It just brings a level of professionalism, the veteran presence, to A great guy for our team.”
