If you’re having trouble with your golf swing, the problem is likely because there’s something wrong with your setup, especially your address, posture, and alignment. Even if your swing is relatively solid, if there is a problem with one of the fundamentals, the ball will most likely not go where you expect it to.
If poor aim is your problem, teaching pro Teresa Zamboni has a simple tip that can help.
In a video posted on the LPGA Pro’s YouTube page, Zamboni explained that amateurs often target disorder. That is, they try to adjust the body first and then the clubhead. But according to Zamboni, the most foolproof way to ensure you’re aiming for your intended target is to do the opposite. Aim for your clubhead first, then your body, starting from the beginning: feet, knees, hips and shoulders.

“The first step is to aim the clubface in the direction of the target,” Zamboni says. “Once the clubface is aimed in the direction of your target, then you can align your feet, knees, hips and shoulders parallel to the target.”
Zamboni says getting your body aligned first often results in the clubhead tilting at impact.
“If you aim at the clubhead first, that’s actually what’s going through the ball,” Zamboni said. “That’s your first step. Then, once your clubface is on target, continue to set your feet, knees, hips and shoulders parallel to the intended target and you’re ready to hit the ball in the center of the clubface.
Take Zamboni’s advice and you’ll hit more targets.
