Carnival Cruise Company, Virgin Sailing Sharing Cruise Scam Warning

When you book a cruise, it is best to use a travel agency. This is true for a number of reasons, but a good travel agency keeps you from making many potential mistakes.

Some of these mistakes involve booking the wrong cruise route to suit your needs or booking a cabin in a bad location. In other cases, errors can be expensive and a good travel agency can save you money.

Additionally, working with a travel agency can save you money as they will check your cruising price and make sure you get credit at least when you drop. They should also do the same in excursions, drink packs, and any other areas where you may spend money.

But the biggest thing is probably that travel agencies can protect you from being scammers.

Another recent scam has affected some cruisers.

Today’s Doug Parker of Cruise News has a complete story, and more.

Virgin Voyages shares news about new scams

Transcript:

Today is Doug Parker’s cruise news today.

Good morning. This is your cruise news on Thursday, February 20.

Virgin warns passengers about the increase in the number of cruise scams.

Now, Cruise Line has alerted guests of Sailors’ fraudulent offers, including discounted resales and fake social media deals.

Virgin Voyages says bookings are only made through its website, authorized travel agencies or official sailor services. Passengers should also protect their booking details, such as not posting them on social media to prevent unauthorized charges.

The company said it will never call for payment or personal information.

Yes, its first exclusive destination is set to open on July 19. The private port will see calls from more than 20 Carnival cruise ships.

Carnival executives recently visited the site, which features five themed areas including an adult-only beach club, a 10-story sun castle and the largest freshwater lagoon in the Caribbean.

Carnival also shares scam news

The couple’s carnival was accidentally canceled by her husband’s ex-wife. The company booked a trip for June but found a refund was issued without notice.

Now, after contacting Carnival, they learned that the former marriage was still listed as an emergency contact for the husband, had visited the booking and cancelled the cruise.

Initially frustrated with the response to Carnival, the couple then received free room upgrades and $300 in boarding credit.

Carnival recommends guests keep the latest information on emergency contact information to prevent similar issues. A valuable lesson in fine printing of love, trust and emergency connection.
