Speaker Johnson said the House will match Trump’s pace as Democrats “dragged”

House Speaker Mike Johnson teased on “flailing” Democrats on Sunday and vowed that the House was as aggressive in promoting legislation as President Donald Trump’s executive order.
Johnson made a statement in a appearance on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream. Johnson said House Republicans are working to compile the massive legislation package Trump demanded.
“We will secure the borders, we will ensure the safety of the American community. We will gain American energy dominance again in the economy and restore common sense,” Johnson said.
“But it takes a little time to do it all in a big bill. So we are working very effectively. We have been working hard on this process for a year, Shannon. Throughout the last year, we have our committee jurisdictions The idea of working on bringing it together,” he added.

“We’ll be marking the Budget Committee next week. We may move forward a few details further, because the details really matter. Remember, I have the smallest gap in history, and it’s currently about two votes. So I have to make sure everyone agrees Before we get the project forward, the final product, and we have some boxes to check, but we get very, very close,” he continued.

A Republican lawmaker said tensions emerged during a closed-door meeting last week and several “heating exchanges” were conducted, with the Conservatives demanding concrete plans and minimum spending cuts significantly higher than originally proposed levels.
“I think there’s a lot of frustration right now,” lawmakers told Fox News Digital. “They’ve been trying to be inclusive, but not every open forum they offer allows members to say, ‘I feel like people are listening to me,’ ‘Because I don’t know that’s the case now.”
