South Korean police investigates Japanese woman kissing BTS star Jin

South Korean police called a Japanese woman for interrogation after they were accused of kissing Jin (a member of K-Pop Supergroup BTS) at a public event last year without consent.
The Japanese woman’s name was not revealed, and many fans were discharged from the South Korean military after celebrating the conquest of the South Korean army at an event in June last year. Jin’s name is Kim Seok Jin and he is hugging fans when a Japanese woman suddenly kisses him on the cheek.
The video footage of the spread shows that Kim looks uncomfortable when several female fans try to kiss him. A formal legal complaint was subsequently filed on the government website, and the authorities could respond to it if they think it is worth investigating.
The Songpa police station in southern Seoul said that since then, South Korean police have identified a Japanese woman with the help of Japanese police.
The police department said she would face enquiry about possible allegations of sexual harassment if the woman accepted the subpoena. They didn’t say what other steps they might take if she wasn’t obligated.
It provides no personal details about the woman, but South Korean news media said the woman brags online about how her lips touched Kim’s “soft” skin in her 50s.
Hybe, the company that created and managed the boy band, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Although historical disputes originated from Japan-Korean colonial rule in the early 20th century, South Korea and Japan maintained light tourism exchanges. Korean TV series and K-Pop groups like BTS are the main attraction for Japanese fans who visit the plays shot or attend K-Pop fan conferences.
BTS has a large number of global fans who call themselves the BTS “army”.
Like all other qualified young Korean men, seven boy band members must complete military service. This has led to a pause in one of the world’s largest musical performances.
Jin, 32, is the oldest member of the band and is the first to join the army in 2022. The band’s management said the organization will re-enter this year once all members return from military service.
