Sister Wives recap: Meri Brown discusses family money and her baby Leon

Jen is quick to remind Meri that not only did she put money into the family bank while she was married to Cody, but that the money “paid for most of the kids’ college expenses, but not Leon’s.”
Jane claimed that family funds “went toward most of the kids’ cars but not Leon’s,” which Meri confirmed. “I paid for Leon’s college expenses,” Meri said, adding that she also paid for her children’s “car payments” and did not use family money.
“I don’t really know how much the family fund actually paid for other kids’ schools or cars, but I know my kids’ schools were not taken care of by the family fund,” Meri admitted.
Despite her longest marriage to Kody, Meri claims she never got an equal share of the money her sisters’ wives raised for their plural families.
“Cody actually said something like, ‘Because I only have one child, I’m not entitled to an equal share of the property,'” Meri claimed, again referring to the sale of their public lands.
Meri and Kody were legally married from 1990 to 2014. Robin Brown and legally adopted her three children from previous relationships. Meri and Kody remained mentally united until January 2023, when she confirmed their separation.

Kody is still married to Robin, 46, and they have three adopted children and two biological children.
“We have 18 kids to take care of. You know, it’s just water under the bridge,” Cody told the cameras while discussing the division of assets on Sunday’s show. “I don’t even want to discuss it. Meri can complain all he wants about what happened.

While Kody tried to ignore Meri’s claims, she still insisted that she should get some money from their Coyote Pass property – as did Janelle. (Kristin gave some of her land to Robin and Cody after her divorce and kept the money from the sale of her Arizona home.)
“I invested a lot in this marriage emotionally and financially. [and] personally. I didn’t get anything out of it, like alimony or anything. I’m not looking for that,” Merry concluded. “So I think it’s fair [I get] Real estate investment. I thought it was fair that at least I left.
Elsewhere in the episode, Cody met with a real estate agent to make a listing for Coyote Pass without letting Janelle or Meri know. In the meantime, both women have hired lawyers to try to protect their rights to the land.
