Senior Canadian official Grand Slam Trump for tariff plan: “You lose prosperity”

A top Canadian diplomat is alerting President Donald Trump to impose tariffs on Canadian imports, believing the move would cost both countries.

“If you put too many obstacles before trade, if you put too many taxes and tariffs in front of trade, you slow down everything and make people lose their jobs, lose their jobs, lose their prosperity,” Canada said in a game at MSNBC on Sunday.

After Trump confirmed on Thursday that his 25% tariff would come into effect on March 4, he believed dangerous drugs such as fentanyl are still spilling over the U.S.-Canada border at an alarming rate.

“The proposed tariffs will actually take effect as planned. The date will also charge an additional 10% tariff in China. The date of the second mutual tariff in April will remain in full force and effect.”

Trump initially agreed to a 30-day pause on the tariff plan to negotiate time between Canada and the United States on how to better protect the border, although the president argued Thursday that there was not enough time to stop traffic within the 30-day window.

“We cannot let this scourge continue to harm the United States,” Trump said.

The trade war between the two countries comes after current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced in January that he would resign and end his nine-year run to lead the country, and Canada will also transition to new leadership.

Trudeau said he will continue to serve until the Liberals can choose a new leader and parliament will be suspended until March 24.

No matter who emerges as a new Canadian leader, they will have to resume negotiations with Trump on tariffs, Ray said the Canadian side did not see the logic.

“We’re going to have to deal with this. We have to deal with it. It’s going to spend work on both sides of the border, which I think everyone has to understand,” Rae said during his appearance at MSNBC. “What is the logic of raising the price of everyone? We can’t see the logic of it, which is why we continue to try to convince the U.S. government that should rethink and work hard to reflect what the costs and benefits of this trade, and the costs of benefits, the lack of benefits of increasing tariffs.”

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for digital comment from Fox News.
