Senate nominations are nominations for Trump’s FBI directors’ choice Kash Patel

Patel, a former intelligence and defense official in Trump’s first term, supports reshaping the FBI, including expanding its role to carry out Trump’s mission to target immigrants.

He has been a voice critic of the FBI’s investigation into Trump, including Trump’s misconduct against confidential documents, overturned attempts to the 2020 election and debunked allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Patel compared to past FBI directors and many of his inflammatory past statements, including his lack of management experience, including calling investigators investigating Trump’s “government gangsters,” And claimed that at least some defendants were charged on January 6, 2021, that the Capitol riot was a “political prisoner.”

Democrats also criticized Patel for supporting false claims about voter fraud in the 2020 election, and he refused to confirm that former President Joe Biden defeated Trump in the election that year. But Patel still has the support of many Republicans, including moderates.

“I’ve spoken to multiple people about Kash Patel, both of whom are for and against,” Sen. Bill Cassidy, a Republican of Louisiana, said on Tuesday X.

Patel said at a confirmation hearing last month that Democrats are taking some of his comments out of context or misunderstanding his views, including when he proposed to close the FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C. and turn it into The museum in the “deep state”. Patel also denied that his book includes a list of government officials he claims to be a “deep state” that constitutes an “enemy list,” postponing the allegation to “completely wrong sign.”

The Senate Judiciary Committee last week took a partisan range of 12-10 votes to nominate his nomination.
