Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Trump will not be “radicalized” by Maduro

Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied concerns about the legalization of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro after administration officials traveled to Caracas in late January.

Vedant Patel, a former deputy spokesman for the State Department, said last year there were “serious concerns” about the election, and the result “does not reflect the will and vote of the Venezuelan people.”
Rubio responded to Patel’s point of view, saying he still believed Maduro was a “terrible dictator.”
“He allowed Iran to run out in Venezuela. He allowed the Chinese to operate outside Venezuela. He threatened his neighbors in the area. He drowned our gang members and for us the Tren dearagua gang members who we do in this country.”
