Sci-Fi Action Drags Off the Board and Climbs Streaming Charts

It’s easy to forget that for every sci-fi blockbuster fifth element and Interstellarmore movies fail and become punchlines, but sometimes all it takes to fail is the passage of time. The once-hated Star Wars prequels are considered classics. John Carter is a lost masterpiece, Star Trek: Nemesis Still scary because not everything is redeemed, but by now, it’s safe to say Valerian and the Cities of a Thousand Planets is a true science fiction cult classic. Even though it played in front of empty theaters in 2017, the film has been a top performer for streaming, making another appearance in the top ten.

Valerian is a completely different kind of science fiction movie that completely embraces the wild and beautiful side of the future, allowing Alpha to bring a massive city filled with thousands of different species and a place in time and space. If there’s one thing the movie has right and has contributed to its recent success, it’s director Luc Besson, the mad genius behind fifth elementlearn how to create visual spectacles. Again, while the visuals were imaginative and unlike anything in the past decade, the film was still a box office failure, and the complete lack of chemistry between Dane and Cara was A big reason.

Left with profound visions and cringe-worthy conversations.
