Scarlett Johansson cringes as Colin Jost is forced to joke about marriage on ‘Saturday Night Live’
Despite recurring scares, “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost may have gotten used to telling heartless jokes at the expense of wife Scarlett Johansson in the annual joke swap with his “Weekend Update” co-host People Michael Che recites their jokes.
What Yost may not have been prepared for this year was Johnson’s presence backstage, as she was forced to watch her husband receive the vaccine in real time, with the camera cutting between the couple. The actress appeared on Saturday Night Live to welcome host Martin Short to the famous five-person club, which she joined in 2017. Ste read the racist jokes Che had written for him, just like he had in years past.
“Pause. Before we do this, I know Michael is going to let me tell some racist jokes like I always do,” Jost began. “So this time, if you don’t mind, I’m going to read all the jokes in Black Voices so I don’t get in trouble.”

“I want to dedicate my next joke to my friend Scarlett Johansson,” Yost said. The camera then cuts to Johnson watching the recording backstage. Johnson gripped his glass tightly and frowned, bracing himself for the inevitable.

“No! Oh my gosh, she’s really worried,” Jost said before telling a joke. “Hey shush. You all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday. That means I’m getting out of there.”
“Why?” Johnson can be heard saying as the camera cuts to her. “Shh,” Jost continued hysterically. “No, no. I’m just having fun. We just had a baby and you guys haven’t seen a picture of him yet because he’s so dark,” he said, referring to the couple’s son Cosmo. “Shiz. I’m not afraid of you bastards,” he repeated.
“Oh—” Johnson said, and the camera refocused on her, taking a long sip of her drink.
