Sarah Ferguson to ‘start over’ with Prince Andrew’s marriage

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York Praising her previous marriage to her ex-husband prince andrew.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times published on Saturday, December 14, the Duchess of York, 65, opened up about her relationship with Prince Andrew.

“I was completely, completely in love with Andrew,” she told the outlet of her early romance with the 64-year-old. He was the best, a great guy with a great heart and so kind. Our wedding was the best day of my life. But that day I gave up my anonymity. I can do it because love conquers all. It is still with us today. I won’t let him down.

She added: “He supports me as much as I support him. He has supported me through everything, not just marriage or divorce. We agree on the three Cs: communication, compromise, compassion.

Fergie’s interview comes ahead of news that Andrew has been linked to a businessman accused of being a Chinese spy. In a statement to the BBC on Saturday, the Duke of York said he had “ceased all contact” with the man and that he had met the man “through official channels” and that there was “nothing of a sensitive nature” [was] has been discussed.

As for Ferguson, she further reflected on the early days of her relationship with Andrew in an interview with The Sunday Times.

“I first met Andrew when I was 12 years old,” she told the outlet. “My first thought was that I was going to marry him. When we came back into each other’s lives Diana Invited me to Ascot in 1985 and six months later we were engaged. You weren’t allowed to hang out or move in together at that time. Diana couldn’t, and neither could I.

Ferguson said the next generation of royals “learned” from them, noting, “Sophie [Duchess of Edinburgh] and Catherine [Princess of Wales] Can. They all met their sons.

Ferguson’s sister Jane Luedecke also spoke to The Sunday Times about the former couple’s relationship.

“Sarah and Andrew are the best divorced couple I know,” Luedecker said. “They do it for their children; it’s incredible. I came to stay at the Royal Hotel in May and went riding at Windsor Castle with Andrew. It was great to get back on a horse and walk through the grounds again.

Prince Andrew’s past is filled with controversy and accusations. In October 2019, Andrew was accused of sexual assault by Virginia Roberts Giuffre. This comes amid news of his friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein.

In November 2019, Andrew denied the allegations in an interview with BBC Newsnight, saying he had “no recollection of meeting the woman, not at all”. “This has never happened,” Andrew said.

Giuffre said she was forced to have sex with him three times between 1999 and 2002.
