Jason Kelce designs mascot for ESPN’s Late Night Kids

Jason KelceHeadlining late-night talk shows is truly a family affair.

“Obviously, this show needs its own mascot,” Kelce, 37, said on ESPN on Saturday, Jan. 18. They call it late night. “We went out and found the perfect design team for the job.”

In a pre-recorded clip, Jason and his wife Kelly Kells –official they call it late night Announcer – Ask their children to come up with a mascot. Jason, 32, and Kelly have three daughters, Wyatt, Ellie, 5, and Bennett, 23 months. (Kylie is also currently pregnant with baby No. 4, another girl.)

Jason tested their knowledge before the youngest Kelsis began formulating their ideas.

Wyatt, Ellie and Bennett then began painting the potential mascot – who was still holding a “drink”.

“I think we have a mascot, girls,” Jason said later. “We have Wyatt’s face, Ellie’s body, and the ‘pizza hand’ you drew here [and] “Chicken legs.” This is our mascot.

Wyatt and Ellie chose to name their mascot “McFate the Dragon-Butt-Butt.”

“Okay, does it sound like he’s Irish?” Jason joked in response, before taking the completed drawing to the ESPN studios.

He addressed the audience, gushing that the girls “did it” on their artistic mission.

“I think Ellie wanted the face too, but she got the body,” Jason said. “I really don’t know how [Kylie] Let Benny draw anything. I never had Benny draw anything.

According to Kelly, Bennett contributed an “accidental doodle” that turned out to look like legs. This painting was the inspiration for the mascot costume that one of Jason’s colleagues wore for the rest of the broadcast.

Meanwhile, Jason is in awe that his kids “got” the design.

“Well done! I don’t even know what to say,” he mused further. “It’s great. … I absolutely love this thing. It turned out perfect. I wish we had it forever, but unfortunately we only had it for two weeks.”
