Rex Ryan vows ‘country club’ atmosphere is over if Aaron Rodgers gets Jets coaching job

“I think the reason I’m getting it is because I’m the best person for it. It’s still very far away,” he said. via ESPN. “The thing you have to do is, you have to connect with your football team, you have to connect with your fan base. The way they play, that’s the most important thing. It’s not just X’s and Os’ and stuff like that. .
In addition to showing off his confidence, Ryan even delivered a speech that was directly aimed at quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“Obviously, when you have a guy who didn’t participate in mandatory minicamp — and he’s your quarterback, by the way, coming off an injury — I think the message you send to the team is absolutely Ridiculous,” Ryan said of Rodgers missing the mandatory minicamp trip to Egypt this summer.
“If he came back, things would be different. If he came back, it wouldn’t be the country club and you could show up whenever you want. That’s not going to happen. I’ll leave it there.”

“Whether I come back or they have existing players or new players or whatever, the focus has to be how do I, as a player, be part of the solution and not part of the problem?” Rodgers said. “I love this organization so much and I want it to be turned around. If I come back into it, I’m going to do everything I can to turn it around.”
