Reports say several people may be dead after car plows into crowd on busy Bourbon Street

Several people are dead after a car may have plowed into a group of people on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, authorities said.

The driver reportedly got out of his car and fired. According to reports, there was a heavy police presence at the scene.

NOLA Ready announced on social media: “There has been a mass casualty incident at Canal Street and Bourbon Street. Please stay away from the area.”

According to local news station WGNO, the incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Iberville.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of victims in the incident.
