Puyallup police investigate human bone fragments found near railroad tracks

On Saturday, Puyallup police were searching for part of an ongoing investigation to search the BNSF track between Southeast 5th Street and Southeast 15th Street.

The department coordinated a search with the Investigation Services Department, BNSF Police, Pierce County Search and Rescue and Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office to gather evidence, after a small number of skeletal remains were found.

Police said 40 officers were involved in helping find more potential evidence that the medical examiner’s office could evaluate.

Police posted it on social media to inform the public because there were a large number of police officers present in the area.

Police said there were no suspects and no threats to the public.

At present, the police do not know the source or identification of the remains.
