Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visit Southern California to support wildfire victims and recovery efforts

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are working to support Southern California wildfire victims and relief efforts as wildfires continue to sweep through the region.

The couple made a second visit to Pasadena on Friday and met with Mayor Victor Gordo to discuss ongoing recovery efforts, Fox 11 reported.

Earlier this week, the two anonymously delivered food to families displaced by the fires, the outlet reported.

“Over the past few days, wildfires in Southern California have ravaged communities, destroying homes, homes, schools, medical centers and more, impacting tens of thousands of people from all walks of life. A state of emergency has been issued,” the pair wrote on their website Thursday Dow, describing the situation in Southern California.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also provided a list of organizations active in helping wildfire victims.

The organizations, on their website, include World Central Kitchen, which provides meals to first responders and people displaced by fires; the Animal Health Foundation, which houses and cares for evacuated animals; Compton Cowboys, which provides emergency transportation for horses, Airbnb and 211LA Join forces to provide free temporary housing to displaced people.

Harry and Meghan also listed Baby2Baby, which is distributing emergency kits and essential items such as diapers, clothing and hygiene products to families in need; and All Power Books, which remains open with supplies and water available for pickup while working to support those affected. Distributing necessities to those affected by the fires; the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation are working to provide support to firefighters battling the fires and trying to save homes, families and communities affected by the fires.

The couple also encouraged others to help victims if they could, including providing housing for evacuees, checking on elderly or disabled neighbors to see if they needed help evacuating and donating items such as clothes and toys.

“There are families and people who have nothing,” the pair wrote on their website. “Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys and clothing, and other essential items.”

They noted that the American Red Cross was on the scene providing assistance to those in need.
