Post Malone gave $20,000 tip to Houston bartender and single mother on Christmas Eve

Santa isn’t the only one handing out presents on Christmas Eve.

Rapper Post Malone channeled his inner Kris Kringle, said Renee Brown, a single mother and bartender at The Railyard in Houston, Texas. Gave her a large tip at the start of the day which would have been unusual.

Brown said her vacation plans were a departure from her usual routine with her 9-year-old daughter, Iliana.

“We usually bake cookies and watch Christmas movies, but this is the first time I can’t do that,” she told Music Mayem magazine of her regular schedule.

“I was working two jobs and homeschooling my daughter. I was always exhausted,” she explained. “We have been without a car for two years. We recently moved after losing everything and starting from scratch in August 2024.

“The day started off really slow, and I was just going with the flow and trying to put a good mood on others while dealing with not being able to spend Christmas Eve with my daughter,” Brown recalled. But when Post Malone (real name Austin Post) ) showed up at her bar enjoying a quiet night out with friend and fellow performer Shabushi, when things took a turn.

“I didn’t realize it at first [Malone] “I was there until a coworker from my second job came in and told me Austin was outside on the patio,” Brown said. “At first I thought he was kidding me, and then I kept seeing people walking out. [and] I stayed there for about 30 minutes straight, then my curiosity got the best of me and lo and behold, there he was.

“I tell all my regulars not to act weird and not to bother him because this is a neighborhood dive bar and I’m sure he chose a place like this to feel a sense of normalcy.”

The Railyard has been described as a plain, unpretentious institution, but it’s transformed by the appearance of the “Circles” singer.

“It was wonderful to see how happy everyone was and to see how friendly he was to all the people who regularly spent time with me,” she said. “Everyone he was with was so kind and welcoming. We Had a great night jamming on the jukebox.”

Positive vibes filled the room, but things are only going to get better for Brown.

“When Austin asked for a check, he didn’t have one because a lot of regulars and his friends had bought his drinks,” Brown shared. The rapper planned to tip Brown, who insisted on charging him something.

“So he told me to call him and ask for a penny or something, so I did that. I went ahead and checked out, collected all my checks, and started typing in my tip. And then I found his tip. This It’s a $20,000 tip.

“I immediately started crying. It was a very emotional night and I had left the house and was drowning behind the bar, trying to accept that they were even there and then the tip was on top,” she said. Brown, who works two jobs, said Malone’s talent was truly life-changing.

“This allows me to at least have a way to get back to work, pay rent and save a little bit. I’m trying to save up to start a business so I don’t have to keep working two jobs and be able to spend more time with my daughter, which is really a blessing. Such a blessing that I can’t quite put into words, this visit was absolutely amazing and I can talk and talk about it.

“I finally had a chance to stop cleaning and talk to him more and thank him,” Brown said of sharing her gratitude with Malone. “I know I cried and thanked him, but he had no idea what it really meant to me.”

Brown shared a photo of her and the rapper on Instagram, adding that the performer is easily the “most humble, personable celebrity” she’s ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Although Brown was able to thank Malone in person, she reiterated her gratitude in interviews. “If he gets this message, I know I told him that night how grateful I was, but I want to reiterate that he helped me in ways that I can’t even explain,” she said. “My best friend [Matthew] I’ve been a big fan of his for years and it was great that we got to meet him and experience that moment.

Representatives for the singer, who is set to tour starting in April with musical guest Jelly Roll, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
