The Los Angeles Police Department released a shocking security camera video that appears to show a driver running on a man, driving from a car toward the victim, and then abandoning him in the busy Tarzana Street.
According to LAPD, the felony crash puts a man in critical condition in his 60s and was held at 9:25 a.m. on Reseda Boulevard and Clark Street on Monday. Police are seeking the public for help from the suspect.
Police said the victim was walking along a prominent crosswalk on Clark Street when a black Ford F-150 truck hit the street in the upper left and hit him. Safety video shows the truck driver stopping, walking out of the car and approaching the victim, who lie on the street, facing each other.
The video shows the driver, who appears to be looking at his phone, observed the man for a few seconds, then returned to the truck and drove away. He was neither required by law nor resorted to himself nor provided assistance.
Police said he was described as a male wearing a baseball cap, blue jacket and dark pants. The security video appears to show a black trash can, a blue recycling bin and several pieces of furniture on the truck lathe. Several witnesses were also seen approaching the victim.
Los Angeles Fire Department medical staff transported the victim to a local hospital.
