Police say

There were more than a dozen injured people in a bar shooting in Toronto, Canada on Friday.

Toronto police responded to shootings at Progress Avenue and the Toronto East Corporate driving area around 10:40 p.m. The shooting occurred near downtown Scarborough.

The Toronto Fire Department said there were reports of shootings and active shootings in the Scarborough bar.

The 12 victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police said four of the victims suffered inanimate injuries, but the extent of the remaining eight people was not clear.

Police said the suspect was wearing a black Balaclava mask and was seen driving in a silver car.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said on X that she “has hard to hear reports of shootings in a Scarborough bar.”

The mayor said she spoke with Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw, who assured her that “all the necessary resources have been deployed.”
