Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker and the rest of the city celebrated the Philadelphia Eagles’ NFC championship victory on Monday, perhaps a little too enthusiastically.

Parker was speaking to the city on Sunday before snowstorms and freezing temperatures hit the Northeast. About six inches of snow is expected and temperatures will drop into the teens. Finally, she expressed her support for the Eagles.

“Let me hear what you all say, ELGSES, eagles! Go ahead, birds,” she said.

The sentiment was there, but fans noticed the team’s strange spelling and discussed it on social media.

The Eagles defeated the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round to advance to the division championship game for the second time in three years.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley broke the game open with a 78-yard touchdown run in the final seconds. Then, Philadelphia withstood the Rams’ surging offense and nearly came back to win the game or force overtime.

Barkley finished with 205 yards and two touchdowns.

“It’s fun, it’s a game I asked for,” Barkley said. “When something like this happens, it’s a beautiful thing.”
