Overlooked epic legal thriller wins new fans with lead actor on Prime Video

Billy Bob Thornton is nominated again for an award for his starring role in Taylor Sheridan’s latest hit, Landmanbut this isn’t his first streaming series. In 2016, Billy Bob Thornton starred in the Amazon Prime Original, goliathPlays Billy McBride, a former lawyer who finds his way to the bottom of the bottle. The series was largely ignored by critics and the public, but thanks Landmanit’s finally getting the attention it deserves.
One man against industrial giants
goliath He begins pitting Billy against his old law firm, Cooperman McBride, when he takes on the case of a man who died in an explosion. Bones Technologies, a large corporation and one of Cooperman’s largest clients, claims that Cooperman committed suicide, but Cooperman’s sister is convinced there’s something more going on and puts Billy on the case. It’s clear that powerful people want this case to never go to trial, but Billy has malicious intentions and a need to atone for past mistakes and won’t go quietly.
Before the series begins, Billy helps defend a murder suspect, and although he wins the case, the suspect uses his newfound freedom to murder a family. After Billy left Cooperman McBride, he became enemies with his former partner Cooperman (played by William Hurt) and his ex-wife Michelle (played by Maria Bello (who stayed at the company)) . Basic settings goliath Not groundbreakingly original, but its performances are good and the script is the type you’d expect from creator and super-producer David E. Kelly.
In each successive season, Billy goes up against another “Goliath,” which includes Mexican cartels, Los Angeles politics, and large agricultural conglomerates. The two shows share a common protagonist and many of the same themes, but are different enough that it’s easy to get hooked on both.
Goliath is ignored by everyone

Simmons, Jena Malone, David Cross and Haley Joel Osment. It only ran for four seasons, and each season received less attention, but the show always maintained the same level of quality. Each season on Rotten Tomatoes has fewer and fewer reviewers, with a total of five for season 4, but those who have seen it rate it as a perfect 100% fresh experience.
It’s easy to forget that a series is already on a streamer, or to ignore it in the first place, because every week a different streamer has another expensive show featuring at least one of Hollywood’s biggest stars in.
