Skiing accident in New Hampshire mountains kills 12-year-old boy

A tragic accident took the life of a 12-year-old boy while skiing on New Hampshire’s Claymore Mountain on New Year’s Eve.

According to officials, the boy was skiing on an intermediate ski trail when the accident occurred.

North Conway Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and the boy was transported to a mountain base, but he was unconscious.

Cranmore Ski Patrol performed CPR but was unsuccessful and he was taken by ambulance to MaineHealth Memorial Hospital, where he did not recover. He was pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.

Cranmore Mountain Resort and Conway Police Chief Christopher Mattei issued statements expressing condolences.

“On behalf of Claymore Mountain Resort, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,” a spokesperson for Claymore Mountain Resort said in a statement. “The entire Cranmore family is grieving this tragic loss. “

“On behalf of the Conway Police Department and all first responders who provided assistance, I would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of this 12-year-old boy,” Mattei wrote.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
