Ice fisherman missing amid snowstorm warning dies in Lake Minnesota
Authorities announced this week that the body of a man who disappeared while fishing for ice on a Minnesota lake has been recovered.
The man was identified as 58-year-old Troy Allen Krenz, fishing on Cannon Lake in Faribot, about 50 miles south of Minneapolis, about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Rice County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said Crenz didn’t go home, so family and friends began looking for him.
The sheriff’s office said in a press release that a loved one found a body floating in the lake at 10 a.m. Wednesday and called authorities shortly afterwards.

Agencies including the Fallibot Fire Department and the Rice County Sheriff’s Office arrived and used a cold water suit to enter the open water and pull the body out.
The Rice County Sheriff’s Office described the death as a “drowning incident,” but the office noted that it was working with the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of his death. An investigation is underway.
